Can having chlamydia for one week make a man permanently sterile?

My boyfriend and I have been trying to conceive during the past 6 months and it hasn't happend yet. I suspect its because I was on the pill for awhile and my cycles are completely off now. But part of me wonders if it has anything to do with my boyfriend. 7years ago he had unprotected sex with a girl who was on birth control. They only didn't use a condom that one time. The next day he started experiencing symptoms of chlamydia but he didn't go to the hospital right away. After a week of symptoms he went to the emergency room and they treated him. He has two children from a previous marriage, but these children were born prior to the std. So can having a untreated chlamydia for one week make a guy sterile for the rest of his life? Help !
