I need help please my cat needs help?!?!?

My cat just got spayed a few days ago, about five days. She has a few tiny stitches broke. My mom refuses to bring her back to the vet. It is a hole much smaller than a dime, but bigger than a needle. About two stitches ripped, maybe just one. They did the peephole with her, so the incision is very small. Well, since she's not going back to the vet, I need to find a way to keep it as sterile as possible. My grandpa recommended that I used a band aid, but I told him she would definitely lick that off. Then he suggested gauze. I think that may be best, but I don't know. So, what would somebody put on it that's next-to-best from stitches? Would you suggest the gauze? Will the gauze hurt if it touched the incision? Thanks!
