Does salt heal wounds faster? Does it disinfect wounds?

well first off salt does not heal wounder per say, it can disinfect certain bacteria, however there are halophilic which basically means it it high salt loving, staph being one of those. Staph lives naturally on your skin, it is a part of your natural flora, and obviously the skin is salty...thus staph is resistant to salt, and would not be killed by salt. Many people get staph infections when they get a deep tissue wound, because staph that normally exists on the skin, gets into the dermis and subcutaneous layers and can become an infection. So the answer is no, salt does not help you heal faster and is not a full disinfectant. Historically salt was used to cure meat, which would prohibit most bacteria from aiding in the rotting of meat.
