Author of the Bible question?

What if the Bible was written by a bunch of old guys who had nothing to do with their lives and decided to cleverly write a long book attempting to explain creation and make people question life, the world, and the afterlife for thousands of years. Say these guys wanted to make it so their book was infallible meaning it cannot be wrong or questioned. Here we get the explanation of how such an unquestionable book came to be. I am a christian but I still cannot understand how the Bible is infallible. Yes the authors are said to be inspired by God but still what if a bunch of old guys cleverly came up with a bunch of stories and included that their book cannot be questioned. How can we be so certain that this didn't happen? And from a religious standpoint am I sinning by questioning the Bible?
